When my good friends Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt visited Saigon in 2006, they dropped by the Temple Club which is one of the most atmospheric and romantic spots in Ho Chi Minh City.
Back in the 1900s, this place was indeed a temple with some of the original woods said to have remained intact. With high ceilings, exposed bricks as walls and antique furniture, Temple Club is divided into 3 sections: a bar, dinning area and the lounge.
The picture below is the walkway leading up to Temple Club.

If you have been following Vietnam720.com, you’ll know that I’m a cheapo. And you’d have guessed that there’s something about the prices at Temple Club that brought me here. You are right. Take a look at the drinks menu below. 333 Beer cost only US$2.50 and a cappuccino at only US$2.20- these prices for soaking (the whole day if you want) in one of the coolest place in Saigon.

My Vietnamese filter coffee below came at under US$2. See how pretty they are being served. There’s even a piece of chocolate as an aftertaste.

Parting shot: Even the ash tray is so bloody classic- makes smoking my cheap cigarettes feels like doing an expensive cigar

See all pictures of Temple Club in the slideshow below.

Yes, this is indeed a very cool and nicely decorated place. I must try the food there one day.
I’ve come across only 1 article on the food there n hence this comment may not be fair: But they say the food is ‘so-so’ only.
We have frequented this restaurant many times over the years and have found the food and service to be good for HCMC. However, the last entrance has always looked tired and grotty and is enough to put anyone walking any further. It is in drastic need of a paint both in the corridor and up the stairs. The food, when last there, in March 2010, unfortunately was not as it use to be both on the quality and quantity, as it was in the past. Overall, I would say it has has dropped in presentation, as it needs a good clean and an overall superficial face lift. BUT would do to keep the Chinese/French/Vietnamese/Wooden theme going. Will not go back unless we hear it has had a bit of a face lift, downstairs and upstairs!
Thanks StillInSaigon,
That’s one thing quite consistent with many places- what’s good at the begining usually go downhill after a while.
terrible place! food ok but owner very bad! they always push you eat hurry up.. and go away! why??? you have to pay and they treat you like a shit! forget it!
you can find many place cheaper and better! i’m sure!
Thanks for your feedback Nhu. Sorry it didn’t work out for you.
Problem with Vietnam is that not all things are consistent. 1 day they are good and the other not so
