Tan Hai Long 1 Hotel
My 2 ‘old’ friends (they are in their 50s – sorry Song and Travis
) always swear by the Tan Hai Long 1 Hotel whenever they visit Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon. Together, they both have combined visits to Saigon for more than 10 times and they always stay there. Tan Hai Long 1 Hotel is a 3 star hotel and has just renovated the whole building at the beginning of this year. But even before the renovation, my 2 friends always comment about how clean the place is, not to mention now that the hotel is newer after the renovation.

Tan Hai Long 1 Hotel
One of the best thing about staying at the Tan Hai Long 1 Hotel is how close it is to the famous Ben Thanh Market which many consider it to be Saigon’s best shopping spot. The yellow arrow below points to the Ben Thanh Market with Tan Hai Long 1 Hotel on the left of the picture. As you can see, they are hardly 50m apart.

Below is a screen shot of the different types of rooms available at the Tan Hai Long 1 Hotel, taken from their website. The listed price for a superior room is US$60+. But my 2 friends can always get them at US$35 whenever they call to book their rooms, citing their names as regular customers. I guess maybe Tan Hai Long Hotel has a book keeping system that track their regulars and give discount to encourage repeat visit? Anyway, the hotel comes with those standard services and amenities like elevator, cable TV, a safe, mini fridge, hot water and free breakfast.

Besides good WIFI you can get in your room for your laptop and iPhone, Tan Hai Long 1 Hotel also provides 3 terminals on the ground floor for you to surf the web.

My favorite thing about the Tan Hai Long 1 Hotel will have to be the aerial view you’ll get of Saigon city, Ben Thanh Market and the busy roundabout.

Dear Vietnam 720!
Hey, is me again!
Pse adv on the distance between Tan Hai Long 1 and Asian Ruby Hotel 2 to the famous Benh Thanh Market. How far is Asian Ruby Hotel 2 to the market.. 0.2km? 10mins walk? many thanks
Dear Alisha, don’t worry about getting the name wrong
By my estimation, it’s less than 10mins to walk from Asian Ruby Hotel 2 to the Ben Thanh Market.
Dear Vietnam 720!
Hi! Thanks so much for all your info. Indeed your 2 friends are RIGHT and your adv are terrific. I m now at Tan Hai Long 1 Hotel, leaving back home this evening. I absolutely love the hotel, service, professionalism, and valuable price offered on their room! Awesome! Perfect place for weekends getaway.. hotel are very closed i.e 1min to Ben Thanh market and about 15mins walk to backpackers’ area i.e Pham Ngou Lou..
Yes, seafood (night market) and fruit juices (day n night market) are very affordable and delicious in Ben Thanh market. Yes, Pho 2000 is lovely! Fabulous short holiday!
Thank YOU!
Dear Alisha, so glad my recommendation worked out for you. And thanks for the effort in dropping by here to sound us off
A good location that is next to the Ben Thanh Market (for those who love to shop there).
I would recommend requesting for a higher floor. I was given a room right above the cafeteria and I could actually hear people walking up the stairs! And one night there was a group eating and cheering in the cafeteria and got rather loud (not ideal for for those having an early night!).
Sorry that THL didn’t work out for u Ray.
I’m still rooting for them though. I’m sure moving to higher levels will make things better.
Thanks to u, I save some $$ and it was a good choice for a single traveler like me to stay over at the backpackers area.
Thank you Ray for sharing your experiences with us.
Glad I’ve helped.
BIG THANK YOU again for all your comments
U need to go sleep now for that meeting tomorrow. And i need to get mine after doing half of that bottle of wine u bought. Hehe.
after staying up late during my stay in Saigon, it is tough to sleep early without a few drinks first! hahahaha…
Ray, hope a trip to Vietnam won’t end up making u an alcoholic. Haha!
two thumbs up for tan hai long 1. the staff, especially the waiters and bell boys are very helpful, with smiles on their faces always. special thanks to tommy and than son. Our stay on Sept 26-28 was memorable. This actually was my second visit to saigon. I appreciated better the place this time. I am endorsing this hotel to my friends and relatives. Thank you.

Glad u had fun.
Hello Vietnam720,
We are visiting Vietnam in November, we are staying in Saigon for a couple of nights and thinking about staying at Song Anh 2 hotel, it’s on Le Thanh Ton Street and right next to Ben Thanh market, do you have any idea how the hotel is? If you do , please give us some feedbacks, greatly appreciated! By the way, I accidently stumbled into your website, and I can say that you have a lot of helpful and great tips for travelers in Vietnam.
Cam on,
Tim
