Ben Thanh Market
3 Saigon maps for you.
In this post, I’m going to orientate you with Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon. My goal of creating a Saigon map is to highlight an important point to you- It is VERY EASY to walk around on your own in Saigon.
Note: all references to Ben Thanh Market refer to your back facing the front entrance where the big clock is (see picture above).
Saigon Map 01
The first thing you should do is to divide Saigon into 3 parts: Ben Thanh Market in the middle, Saigon backpacker’s hostel area to your right and Saigon City to the left.

Saigon Map 02
In the 2nd Saigon map below, I am not over simplifying things. Ben Thanh Market is only 1 park away from the backpacker’s area. It is this simple. Standing at the front entrance of Ben Thanh Market, you will see Park 23/9. Just walk about 400m down the park and you’ll reach what I consider another attraction in Ho Chi Minh City- the backpacker’s ghetto. Tip: do a Saigon Alley Tour while you are there.

Saigon Map 03
Unlike the Saigon map above, I am over simplifying things a bit here, just a little bit. Ok, this is what you need to know: from the left hand point onwards of Ben Thanh Market, you’ll be heading to the city central where you’ll find small boutique shops, shopping centers, 5-stars hotels and upscale restaurants. Looking at the Saigon map below, you can see that if you go straight down from the left hand side of Ben Thanh Market, you will reach the Saigon Opera House which is only 800m away. From the Opera House, turn left to get to Notre Dame Cathedral and Saigon Post Office. Turn right and you’ll find Caravelle Hotel, Sheraton and the Saigon River.

Important note: I have a tag here on Vietnam720 call ‘How-To-Get-To’. In it, you can find many articles, albeit with ugly arrows and circles, on getting from point ‘a’ to point ‘b’ in Ho Chi Minh City. You should check them out.
If you find these Saigon maps useful, please share with your friends by emails, Facebook or Twitter. Thank you.

Hi, can u do me a favour by pointing out where Nguyen An Ninh Street is on your 1st map? Is it to the left or right of Ben Thanh market? Thanks in advance.
Hey Andy, they are to the right of Ben Thanh Market.
