Huynh Anh Hotel

Note: With LOTS of sadness, I’m reporting that Huynh Anh Hotel is no longer in operation. They have turned this wonder budget hotel in the Saigon backpacker’s area into an office. But you should still read on to see how a typical US$25 hotel in Saigon, HCMC, is like. At the same time, 2 other hotels in the vicinity which I had written about are: Tan Hai Long 1 Hotel and Beautiful Saigon Hotel.

Huynh Anh Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon, has always been the hotel I’d book for my buddies whenever they come over to tour Vietnam. Located right in Saigon backpackers hostel area, they have very friendly staffs, a security guard based in the lobby for 24 hours a day and even security cameras on every level of the hotel. For US$25 per night at Huynh Anh Hotel, you’ll get cable TV, hot shower, a small fridge, free breakfast, WIFI, free access to the internet in the lobby and GREAT views of Saigon backpacker’s area if you can get the room with a balcony. Note that this is not the perfect hotel. If you want a flawless one, go to Sheraton or Hyatt :-) My experience with them is that sometimes the battery for the air con remote goes flat. And sometimes the hot water gets too hot, or not at all. But at only US$25 with its location and facilities, you’ll find that it’s worth every dollar.

Hey, I know this neighborhood.. it’s just 100m away from Pho Quynh. Right? I recognized the corner of 3/2 Park on the 1 of the pix. I’m wondering, since your doing such a great PR job for the hotel, did you get a discount for your friends? :) Love your pixs!

Vietnam720

Alo Sir, sharp eyes there. U are right, just 100m apart.

I must have had booked rooms about 20 times by now with Huynh Anh. And this was way before doing a virtual tour and blog for them. So yes, I do get a little discount here and there for my friends :-)

Thanks for your compliment on the pix. The truth is that they ain’t great. I took them with my old pocket camera. And the framing was done with the message being more important than the artistic angles :-)

Danny

Hi! Its me again! =) I think I would like to stay here. But I can’t seem to find the contact number or email to the hotel? The Web seems to point me to travel sites (3rd parties) who will book on behalf? Is this the usual way?

Thanks so much for the recommendation. Am so looking fwd to my trip!

Vietnam720

Hi Danny :-)

Book through their email – huynhanhhotel@yahoo.com

Some of these smaller hotels prefer not to set up their own website and hence get a 3rd party to take care of business.

Danny

Thank you! I have emailed them. =)

Vietnam720

According to one reader of this site, she recently email them and the responses are always promt.

Hope it works out for u too :-)

Danny

Hey thanks!

I got a reply from them. Will be there this Fri! =)

Do you need anything fr SG?

Vietnam720

Hey Danny,

Glad it worked out for you. So my friend Vin’s feedback about them being promt is accurate :-)

Thanks for offering to bring stuffs from S’pore. I’m doing fine with things in Saigon here. Thanks again.

Danny

Hi there! =)

I am replying u from the hotel lobby!

Tried the pho u recommend. And yes, u dn have to refund. Very yummy and nice friendly people!

Got lost a lot the whole day but with a little patience, Saigon is a really beautiful place.

The bus ride works too! Thanks for the tip.

Vietnam720

Haha, happy that I don’t need to do a refund :-)

There are quite a few ‘How to get to’ on this site about Saigon’s attraction. I think you’ll find them helpful.

Did you managed to get a room with balcony at Huynh Anh?

Danny

Yes, I used your tips on getting around. Really helpful. =)

No I didn’t manage to get a room with balcony. Had to leave for Hue the next day anyways.

I am replying you from Danang! Come down Hue->Hoi An -> to see the marble mountains. Will be taking the train ride back to HCMC tomorrow!

Then home on Saturday. =(

Already missing here.

Vietnam720

Hey Danny, how did u find Huynh Anh? You like it? Value for money?

Any pix on Marble Mountains to share? Link pls?
