Mui Ne Sand Dunes 001

Not sure if I wanna encourage you guys to ride in Mui Ne or Vietnam on the whole because of the risk of both physically and the law. But if you do want to ride in Vietnam at some point or another, Mui Ne is a good spot because of the ease of navigation.

This post on how to get to the Mui Ne Sand Dunes may sound complicated but the truth is that is really easy. If I can sum it up in one sentence, it will be this: start from the Mui Ne Fishing Harbor, make the first left turn, then left turn again after a traffic light and then finally right turn at a roundabout.

Ok, so the first step is to get to the Mui Ne Fishing Harbor. Ride a little further down and look out for a church on your left.

Circled in red is the church to look out for. An earlier but smaller landmark, circled in yellow, will be the milestone at reads 12.8km. Slow down over here as you’ll be making a left turn very shortly.

Make a left turn just after the church.

After the left turn, ride straight up and the next landmark will be the first traffic light you’ll see.

At the first traffic light you’ll come across, turn left.

After the left turn from the previous picture, just ride straight up and you’ll know when you’ve reached the Mui Ne Sand Dunes. Look out for a road sign that direct you to turn right to ‘Hon Rom’ (circled in red).

After the final right turn, you’ll be greeted with the scene below. Keep to the right, slow down and pick one of the restaurants or rest stops to park your bike. The Mui Ne Sand Dunes are just across the road.

nice directions. is Mui Ne worth it? If you were to have one day and have to choose between Cu Chi Tunnels or Mui Ne, which one would you choose?

Vietnam720

Hi Karlodl, thank you for your compliment.

Mui Ne is VERY worth a trip.

But u can’t do it within a day as it’s a good 5 hours away from HCMC.

wiwin

Hi! thank so much for all your postings which were very helpful. By the way, do you know the bus/coach fare to Vung Tau?? What can we do there when we reach there by bus??

Vietnam720

Alo Monita, thanks for dropping by here.

No idea about the fare but if u are refering to Mui Ne to Vung Tau, then it should be very cheap (definately under US$10) since they are nearby to each other. Many things to do there. See ’36 hours in Vung Tau’. the search box will lead u there :)
