Pictures of the Can Tho River taken in the evening during a leisurely boat ride. Do not confuse this with the typical floating market boat rides in the Mekong Delta. This is just around the Can Tho River.
A few information you’ll find useful about boat rides in the Can Tho River:
01) Cost only about US$5/hr/person. If there are more than 4 of you, the market practice from the boatman is to give a group discount.

02) I learnt from my boatman that the operating cost of running the boat for an hour is about US$1 for the petrol. This means you are paying them US$4/hr for their effort and time. Do consider giving a tip.

03) Usually the boatman (at least with the 2 I had experienced with) is very accommodating. Tell them to speed up or slow down according to your taste. If you are a photographer, you can also instruct them to steer the boat to any particular angle that you like for that money shot.

04) As of this writing, the Can Tho Bridge is the newest one in Vietnam. It also holds the record of the 6th longest cable bridge in the world. A boat ride on the Can Tho River is the only way to get close and get good low angle shot of it, as shown in some of the pictures below. Floating market boat rides go the opposite direction.

05) There is no toilet onboard the smaller boat like the one pictured here. An important consideration to note if you are not having a good stomach on that particular day.

06) To go on the boat ride, just look out for the boatman (usually ladies) near the exit of the harbor front. In most cases, they will come and approach you first.
