My encounter with the Binh An Village Resort in Vung Tau came in August this year. My buddy asked me to recommend a nice beach resort in Vung Tau to pamper his girlfriend for a short trip. I flipped through my faithful Lonely Planet and Binh An Village came highly recommended. Called the resort to make a booking and even though I thought the listed price of US$200 was reasonable for a boutique resort along the seafront, I asked for a discount and the lady manager gave us a 20% discount taking into consideration it was a weekday stay. Cool!

Binh An Village got their name from the Vietnamese word ‘peace’ and this is really the atmosphere that will surround you throughout your stay here. The place is quiet, clean and has lots of natural beauty to admire, from the lush beautiful gardens to the costal view of the South China Sea. I had actually planned a few activities for my friends at the ‘back beach’ like visiting the Lighthouse 1910 and having beers with bbq seafood while sun tanning. But because Binh An Village was so comfortable, they decided to just bum around the resort and soak in the in-house pool that was designed to feel like it was overflowing into the ocean.

This is the room at the Nam An Garden Villa with the terrace on the 2nd level in the next picture. The quality decorations with Asian antiques give you a feeling of being in Bali. There is a big bathroom that comes with a big bath tub and complete toiletries. Hidden behind the painting that’s in front of the comfortable bed is a 29″ plasma TV and a DVD player. They have more than 100 DVDs that you can borrow from the cafe lounge to last the whole night if you prefer not to sleep the night away.

Time to mention about the services you can get in Binh An Village. I’ll give you 2 examples here:

1. At 11.45pm at night, my friend decided he needed an extra pillow. Called the receptionist by the phone and a crispy and fluffy pillow came delivered with 2 hands and a friendly smile.

2. Breakfast is supposed to end at 10.30am. My friends woke up late and arrived at the restaurant at 10.45am. Yet they were served piping hot meals and again, with lots of smiles. Btw, the free breakfast are a few choices of omelets, bacons, beef noodle soup, cakes, pies, juices, coffee and tea.

This is the open lounge area. The picture below may not show the feature clearly enough but if you check out my virtual tour of Binh An Village Lounge, you’ll see that the wall is actually part of a natural cliff which is ultra cool :-)
