Beautiful Saigon Hotel
Beautiful Saigon Hotel is the new kid on the block in Saigon backpackers hostel area having been fully renovated less than 6 months ago. So you can expect all the advantage of a new hotel like a flat screen plasma TV, working water heater and new and clean beds (although they are on the hard side). Within this short period of their new set up, the Beautiful Saigon Hotel had already gathered lots of good reviews, particularly from TripAdvisor.com, one of the leading travel guide site. The only 2 negatives, from my personal experience and also from what’s read on TripAdvisor.com, is that the standard room (costing US$26/night) is very small and can be quite noisy (they are located opposite 2 big and very popular pubs in the Saigon’s backpacker’s area). If you can afford it, I suggest taking the deluxe room at US$45/night. The deluxe rooms are bigger and being located on higher level, the noise issue should get better.

This is the lobby of Beautiful Saigon Hotel. One of the few mini hotels in Saigon backpacker’s area that has air condition in the lobby. This is also where they’ll lay out the tables in the morning to serve you the free breakfast. Be early as breakfast is until 9am only.

They managed to squeeze a lift out of the little space. Get the highest level (6th floor) to beat the noise issue.

The table on the right below is a free internet terminal for you to stay connected. The desk on the left is like a mini office for a tour agency. You can book your Vietnam tours through a lady by the name Miss Hanh who manages the whole operation alone, I think. Another service by the Beautiful Saigon Hotel is that they provide bike rental services. An automatic motorbike cost US$7. My friend rented from them and the experience is that the bike came in good condition. They even threw in 2 helmets instead of the usual 1 only. The advantage with renting from the hotel is that you don’t have to leave your passport with an outside vendor since your passports are already taken when you first checked in.

Nice little hotel right in the heart of the backpacker’s area. Thanks for introducing it to me. The staff were very friendly and they even knew which room I was staying in whenever I came back to the hotel!
If I can add, for the single tourist, go for the standard-plus room (if u just have one or two luggage). The standard room is too small for my liking.
Overall, the hotel is ideal for the budget traveler. Convenient, easy to find food & drinks.
I bloody forgot to claim the savings from u for shifting over here! Haha!

U are not alone in prefering ‘Saigon’ to Ho Chi Minh City. We both are easily in the 80% – 90% camp of liking the old name.

i’m planning to stay at the beautiful saigon hotel next week and was wondering if the washroom in the standard room has a separate shower stall/area? i saw some pictures on TA and it looked like it was just a showerhead above the toilet..

No accurate answer for you. This hotel is super small so I won’t be suprise if all toilets only have a shower head above
