When I first arrived in Vietnam after deciding to live and work here, I had Vietnamese beef stew, or Pho Bo Kho, at this Pho Quynh EVERYDAY for 1.5 months. I really mean EVERYDAY. It’s that good. Else, I won’t dare to recommend it here at Vietnam720 and risk my reputation of being a lousy guide. In fact, I’m so confident you’ll love this Vietnamese beef stew at Pho Quynh that I’m giving you my personal money back guarantee. After trying it and if you can’t agree that it’s the best Vietnamese beef stew in Saigon, give me a call (my number is on the contact page) and I’ll meet you to pay back the amount spent on this almighty Pho Bo Kho…
There are actually 2 articles in this post. I’ll tell you about the type of room you can rent in a Phu My Hung hotel at Saigon’s district 7 in a while. But first, let me share how this post came about…
My 2 ‘old’ friends (they are in their 50s – sorry Song and Travis
) always swear by the Tan Hai Long 1 Hotel whenever they visit Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon. Together, they both have combined visits to Saigon for more than 10 times and they always stay there. Tan Hai Long 1 Hotel is a 3 star hotel and has just renovated the whole building at the beginning of this year. But even before the renovation, my 2 friends always comment about how clean the place is, not to mention now that the hotel is newer after the renovation…
Highland Coffee at the Saigon Centre of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I didn’t come here for the coffee (still loyal to my Trung Nguyen
) but for the city view and its traffic which you’ll see on the video embedded below. Still, this Highland Coffee cafe at 65 Le Loi Street, in the building in front of Saigon Square, is a great resting point and also a place to satisfy your Vietnam coffee carvings…

Among Ho Chi Minh City’s many tourist attractions, the Emperor Jade Pagoda is one of the most interesting ones. The Jade Emperor Pagoda, built in 1909 by the Chinese Congregation, is truly a gem among Chinese temples in Saigon. It is one of the most spectacularly colourful pagodas in Ho Chi Minh City, filled with statues of phantasmal divinities and grotesque heroes. The pungent smoke of burning joss sticks fills the air, obscuring the exquisite woodcarvings decorated with gilded Chinese characters. The roof is covered with elaborate tile work. The statues, which represent characters from both the Buddhist and Taoist traditions, are made of reinforced papier-mache. The pagoda is dedicated to the Emperor of Jade, the supreme Taoist god…

This is Part 03 featuring the food and souvenirs you can find here. Part 01 is on the many different types of clothes and Part 02 is on the shoes and bags…
I’ve drawn up a very brief (and quite ugly
) layout of the Ben Thanh night market. Hopefully this will help you better in navigating around. At the same time, I’m breaking down this article into 3 parts. This is Part 02 featuring the shoes and bags you can find here. Part 01 is on the many different types of clothes and Part 03 will be on the food and souvenirs…
