When travelling in Vietnam and visiting Cholon of Ho Chi Minh City, drop by the Cha Tam Church nearby.

Chat Tam Church, built around the turn of the 19th century, with it's facade of white and lime-green trim has a sleepy, tropical feel to it. The statue in the tower is of Francois Xavier Tam Assou (1855-1934), a Chinese-born vicar apostolic (delegate of the pope) of Saigon. Today, the church has a very active congregation of 3000 ethnic Vietnamese and 2000 ethnic Chinese of Vietnam.
