A school for the Vietnamese kids in the Cu Chi district during the 1960s of the Vietnam War. This virtual tour may not show clearly but the multiple exit points actually allow the kids to escape, if needed, quickly into the Cu Chi Tunnels.
The Cu Chi Tunnels are an immense network of connecting underground tunnels located in the Cu Chi district of Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon. The tunnels of Cu Chi became legendary during the 1960s for its role in facilitating Viet Cong (VC) control of a large rural area only 40km from HCMC. The network, parts of which are several storeys deep, included innumerable trapdoors, constructed living areas, weapons factories, field hospitals and even kitchens. If the tenacious spirit of the Vietnamese can be symbolized by a place, it has to be the Cu Chi Tunnels.
I highly recommend that you visit the Cu Chi Tunnels when touring Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon. An organized tour takes only half a day and cost less than US$10.
